Five Reasons to Visit a Suwanee Wine Fest

By Terry K. Hanson | Suwanee Festivals

Have you ever been to a Suwanee wine fest? Do you want to sample one of the best wines in the country? Well, we have great news because you still have a chance to go. Every year on November 3rd, an annual Suwanee Wine Festival is held, and thousands of people come here to enjoy delicious wines and spend some time with their friends.

I have attended this festival for a couple of years and each year has exceeded my expectations. This is why I have five reasons which should make you visit this festival.

Over 150 premium wines

This one is given, and it’s probably the essential part of the Wine Fest. If you love drinking wine, then this festival will be paradise for you. Local wine experts have almost an impossible task; they need to choose over 150 premium wines from around the world for you to try.

You will have a unique opportunity to sample one of the most delicious and most expensive wines and have a great time with your friends.

There is beer to

For people who aren’t fond of wine, there is always another choice, beer. You should head over to the Georgia craft beer tent for unlimited samples of your favorite brews and bourbon tasting with JR Revelry Bourbon. The best of all, you will have a big TV screen to follow Saturday football.

You are drinking for a good cause

FW61Annandale Village is a special place where men and women with developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries spend their time, learn about independence, self-worth, and achievements. On the first morning of Suwanee Wine Fest, Annandale Village is hosting its 4th annual Extra Mile Run/Walk 5K at Town Center Park to start the day’s festival.

This is a noble cause, and all people who attend the Suwanee wine fest should support this event. I have been every time I visited a festival and had a great time here.

Live music and entertainment

Besides wine sampling, live music and entertainment is the best part of this festival. Every year famous musicians have performances here, and you shouldn’t miss one of them while attending a festival. This year’s event will feature live music from nationally-popular singer and songwriter Joe Hall.

Don’t worry; there is more

Local vendors and artists organize sales, and you can purchase many products such as cornhole, Giant Jenga, food for purchase from Local Republic and Strange Taco, the Fish Market also provide a sample. You can enjoy delicious food and try something different.

Get the tickets

You should hurry up and get your tickets on time; they usually sell fast because many people are attending the festival. The price goes from $55 to $109, and you can purchase them on their website. There are a couple of types of tickets you can choose from, and the price varies depending on the activities you select from. So, save water and come drink some wine, we are sure you’re going to love it.

Suwanee Half Marathon Race

By Terry K. Hanson | Run & Maraton

Do you love running, but you never had a chance to test your skills? Do you have enough courage to try your running skills at a half marathon? Well, now you have an excellent opportunity to apply for one. The 5th annual Suwanee Half Marathon and the newly added Old Town 5k will be organized on 02/10/19, and it is hosted by Performance Race Service together with the City of Suwanee.

Last year I participated, and organizers provided commemorative jackets and pull-overs for all of the people who have supported the marathon. This was an excellent opportunity for me, I met some great people and I will definitely come again.

Race information

The half marathon will start at 7:30 AM in front of City Hall. The Old Town 5K will begin at 7:40 AM on Main Street, across from the library. For people who are running 5K rice, don’t forget to cheer for the participants on the half marathon as they come by you.

There will be three top overall winners, from a male and female category in various age groups. In the 5K race, there will be one top overall winner, male/female, top master winner, male/female, and top three, male/female in different age groups.

So, if you are serious about racing, then you have a lot of opportunities to win some of the awards. We would also like to thank our sponsor Advanced Urology Suwanee.

Registration pricing

The registration starts at 12/31/18 at midnight. The price for the half marathon is $65 and for the 5K is $30. Make sure to pick your ticket then. Otherwise, on 01/01/19 to 02/07/19 the price will increase. You will have to pay for the half marathon $75 and the 5K $35.

Packet pick upon the race or on the race day will be $85 for the Half and $40 for the 5K, but no one can guarantee you will get a shirt.

The half marathon course

This year’s Suwanee Half Marathon will have a course change, but the organizers will provide you feedback. You will get all the required information on time. The new course will begin at Suwanee Town Center; you will continue up to and down PIB, around George Pierce Park, on the greenway to McGinnis Ferry.

You will be directed back onto the Greenway, under the McGinnis Ferry to Suwanee Creek Park. You will have to turn around and return onto the boardwalk bridge and back to the start by City Hall.

The 5K course

The 5K race will begin on Main Street, next to the library. These changes are made to allow half marathon racers to reach a finish line. The first mile of the half will remain the same, but it will split off half way up Eva Kennedy onto Brushy Creek Way. While racing, don’t forget to enjoy the Old Town Suwanee.

It is stunning how much Suwanee has changed in the last couple of years. You can also see the course of the race on my website; it will help you organize your time.
